The Magic of Daring to Pause

Do you know the core wound of your Human Design Type?

Hey cosmic wanderer,

I know a lot of us feel the pressure to keep up with the world’s incessant speed. Instead of cultivating trust and patience in our own pace, we often give into external pressures and expectations. And that weighs heavy on us. I want you to know that you're not alone! I see you!

But what if I told you that slowing down and trusting our own rhythm might be the most powerful thing we could do for our creative journey?

I must admit, sometimes it does seem almost impossible in our society that glorifies speed and productivity. Even algorithms reward us for being constantly active. But for us creatives, this can feel like relentlessly pushing a boulder up a hill—trying to keep up with constantly producing, sharing, and creating, at times to our own detriment. But maybe it's the very pressure to stay relevant that’s keeping us sensitive souls disconnected from our true creative flow? Maybe that's what's keeping us stuck in whatever fear is stopping us from trusting our inner guidance?

In my experience, the real magic happens when we stand with our integrity and give ourselves permission to pause, breathe, and trust in our unique pace and the ripples we’re here to make.

As sensitive, emphatic souls, we often feel the need to match the world’s pace, even when our inner wisdom is whispering for us to slow down. We're bombarded with messages that equate success with constant output—that if we’re not showing up every day, we risk being left behind. But this push to keep up is doing more harm than good. Most of us know the key to unlocking deeper creativity, clarity, and fulfillment lies in stepping back and honouring our own rhythm and trusting our unique process. But how many of us truly know what that even feels and looks like?

That's where tools like Human Design come in handy. This week, I’m inviting you to explore what it means to trust your natural rhythm, specifically through the lens of Human Design and the core wound of your Type.

How can we align with the rhythms that truly nourish us, rather than forcing ourselves into a pattern that’s not meant for us?

I know most of you have at least heard of Human Design, but just in case you’re unfamiliar with it, Human Design is a system that synthesizes ancient wisdom traditions with modern science to provide insights into your unique energetic blueprint. It helps us understand how we’re designed to navigate life, make decisions, and use our energy in the most aligned way.

At its core, it’s about trust and surrender—trusting and surrendering to our natural limitations, our inherent strengths, and our authentic timing. As my Human Design teacher, James Alexander, so beautifully says,

surrendering is an act of orienting yourself to your most honest life.

This surrender is where true power resides. It allows us to release the need to keep up and instead focus on what feels aligned, honouring the natural ebbs and flows of our energy.

Each of us has a distinct rhythm, a unique pace—and Human Design guides us in discovering how to align with that in the most honest way.

We All Have a Core Wound

Each Human Design Type comes with its own core wound that often drives us out of sync with our natural rhythm. It's what will keep creating resistance on our path. I want us to explore how understanding these wounds can help us cultivate deeper trust in our own pace. I've included a reflective journal prompt and an actionable tip for you to dive deeper and experiment with.

But first, if you haven’t already, I highly encourage you to draw up your Human Design bodygraph by inputting your birth data here. Once you've done that, look up your Type.

Projectors: Your core wound is feeling unrecognized or undervalued for your gifts and contributions. You will truly thrive when you wait for the right invitations rather than forcing things to happen. And that starts with you honouring your unique frequency.

  • Reflective Prompt: What does honouring my unique frequency look like in my daily life? How can I support myself in staying aligned with that, even if external recognition is not immediate?

  • Tip for Projectors: Practice sharing your insights or guidance in small, intentional ways without expecting immediate recognition. Focus on refining your wisdom and trusting that the right invitations will come when you are fully aligned with your unique gifts.

Manifestors: You often wrestle with feelings of being controlled or misunderstood. You’re not here to be influenced by others. The key for you is communication that paves the path to mutual understanding and support.

  • Reflective Prompt: In what situations do I feel most misunderstood or restricted? What would change if I clearly communicated my intentions and needs in those moments?

  • Tip for Manifestors: Practice consciously informing people before acting. Notice how this proactive communication changes and shifts the energy. Note that this is not about seeking permission, rather, this is about mutual understanding and support.

Generators: Your core wound revolves around doing work that doesn't bring satisfaction. The real practice for you is in discernment: are you responding to what you think you should want, or are you answering the call of a deeper, soul-aligned desire?

  • Reflective Prompt: In what area of my life do I feel most unsatisfied or drained? What would change if I started to say 'no' to things that don't genuinely light me up or energize me?

  • Tip for Generators: Practice saying "no" to what doesn’t light you up, creating space for what does.

Manifesting Generators: You often feel the urge to hurry, sometimes skipping steps along the way. This is not necessarily a problem but do cultivate awareness around whether you’ve initiated something out of a genuine Sacral response or because you were being impatient or externally pressured.

  • Reflective Prompt: Where in my life am I rushing, and how might slowing down allow me to savour the journey?

  • Tip for Manifesting Generators: Before taking action, pause and ask yourself, ‘Is this truly exciting and energizing for me right now, or am I rushing because I feel I should be doing something?’ Take a few deep breaths and tune into your Sacral response. If it feels expansive and energizing, go ahead. If not, allow yourself to wait for the right moment.

Reflectors: You may struggle with being disconnected from your environment, which can lead to feeling lost, invisible or disappointed. It is important for you to feel comfortable in your environment as you have the ability to reflect the health of the whole.

  • Reflective Prompt: How connected do I feel to my environment, and how might this influence my sense of overall wellbeing? What small changes can I start to make today to feel more nourished?

  • Tip for Reflectors: Regularly assess your environment and the people around you. Notice how each place or person makes you feel. Make small changes to spend more time in spaces that uplift you or with people who feel nourishing to your energy.

I’m curious, how does this resonate with your lived experience? I’d love to hear about it.

Trusting My Pace Through Running

Ready for another running analogy?

17.2.19 That time I ran my very first half marathon.

I’ve always been a slow runner. In school, I would watch others zoom past while I maintained my snail pace. Back then, it felt frustrating and humiliating—like I was falling behind. Being the last one over the line was never much fun. But as I’ve grown and matured, I’ve realized that life is much like running. It’s not about keeping up with others, but about trusting your own pace.

This lesson became crystal clear when I paused my Substack. After graduation, I was running at a speed that wasn’t mine, trying to meet expectations I thought I had to fulfill, typical Generator style. My mind would be filled with chatter about falling behind or missing out on stuff. But the pause allowed me to reconnect with my own rhythm, and I saw how the smallest shifts—like slowing down—can create profound ripples in our lives.

When we trust our own pace, creativity flows more naturally, decisions feel more aligned, and we experience less burnout. It’s about choosing depth over speed, quality over quantity.

I’ve seen this firsthand in my creative work. When I stopped forcing myself to produce on a rigid schedule and instead allowed ideas to unfold naturally and mostly in response to something, my writing became more easeful. These days, I allow my body’s creative rhythm to guide me and when there’s no physical response, I take a step back and pause. As a Generator, learning about the Sacral response has probably been the most empowering aspect of my Human Design.

Do I still have to do things that don’t completely light me up? Yes, of course. Take my library job, for example. There are elements of it that spark joy—I get to choose some creative projects that I truly enjoy—but do I relish the idea of commuting into the city three times a week? Not really. Yet, even when parts of my work feel out of my control, there are moments I can shape, and that’s where I let my body lead the way.

It’s the same with building my business, creating offerings and writing these letters to you. Right now, I’m in a season of creation, so my sending schedule feels more consistent. I have so much to share because these ideas have been gently simmering during the sacred pause I gave myself over the past few months. That time of stillness allowed me to rest, integrate and simply be. It’s from that place of spaciousness and surrender that these words, ideas and insights are flowing today.

So, dear beautiful creative soul, remember, slowing down is not a sign of weakness. It’s an act of deep trust in yourself and your journey. Slowing down doesn’t mean stopping everything. It can be as simple as taking a few moments each morning to check in with yourself before diving into the day.

Pause and Reflect

Here are some reflective prompts for you to contemplate:

  1. Where do I feel out of sync with my natural rhythm?

  2. Am I making decisions from a place of pressure, or from what feels truly aligned?

  3. What is one small step I can take today to honour my unique pace?

Let your reflections flow, and trust whatever comes up.

Next week, I am excited to be diving deeper into trusting your pace with a breathwork practice that helps with grounding and decision-making. As most of you know by now, breathwork has been a transformative practice for me in learning to trust my own pace which is why I love to combine it with Human Design. When I feel pressured or stressed, a few moments of conscious breathing reconnects me with my inner wisdom, allowing me to choose from a place of alignment. So I can't wait to share more about it in my next letter.

Until then, remember: slowing down is an act of profound trust in yourself and your journey.

And if you’re currently working through your own stuff and feeling called to explore it through these concepts more deeply, book your discovery call. Together, we’ll chat about what's going on in your life and how I can support your unique journey in creating the shifts you're ready to make with the help of breathwork and Human Design.

Sending you a deep and nourishing breath,

Silvia

P.S. Did you know that all these weekly letters can be accessed in one place? So if you missed one or you want to revisit something, here’s the link for them. Know anyone who might resonate with these letters? Why not share it with them and let these ripples spread wide and far.
